01 / A natural original
Granite brings the variation of natural stone into the spaces you use every day. Its mineral pattern, color, and movement give each slab a distinct appearance. Choosing the actual slab matters: a small sample can introduce a color, but it cannot show every detail of the finished countertop.
At Peerless Stone, we bring together material selection, custom fabrication, and installation. We help you think through how your countertops will look and how the details will work—from an island’s focal point to the edges around a sink.

Granite’s hardness makes it a practical countertop option. Protect the finish with cutting boards and trivets as part of everyday use.
Plan kitchen counters, an island, or a bathroom vanity around the dimensions and details of your room.
The customer perspective
Explore custom granite countertops for Chicagoland kitchens and bathrooms, with slab selection, fabrication, and installation coordinated from our Franklin Park workshop.
“We chose a warm-toned granite for our Elmhurst kitchen, and the natural pattern looks beautiful next to our cream cabinets. The team helped us plan the island so the best part of the slab takes center stage.”
“Our new granite countertops completely changed the feel of our Park Ridge home. The sink cutout and eased edges look clean, and we appreciated being able to talk through the seam placement before fabrication.”
“We wanted a darker granite with plenty of character for our Oak Park kitchen. From reviewing the slab to the final installation, the process felt well organized. The finished counters are exactly the look we had in mind.”
02 / Design the details
A successful granite countertop starts with more than a color name. Bring a cabinet sample or photos of your room so we can discuss the whole space.
Talk through your options ↗
Look at the full slab to understand its background color, mineral pattern, and variation. Consider where its most distinctive areas could sit in your layout.
Ask which finishes are available for the stone you choose. A polished or textured appearance changes the look and feel; care should suit the specific finish.
Discuss the edge profile, slab thickness, and overall proportions together. Availability and fabrication requirements depend on the selected material and design.
Slab dimensions, access, cutouts, and support requirements influence the plan. Review the proposed seam locations, cutouts, and support details with us before fabrication.

03 / Plan your project
Your estimate depends on the selected slab and the work required for your layout. A square-foot figure alone may leave out details that affect the finished project.
We can discuss those details with you and prepare a project-specific estimate. Confirm what is included, and any removal, plumbing, or other trade work that needs to be arranged separately.
The chosen stone, slab size, availability, and how the pieces fit into the slab affect the material needed.
Edge profiles, sink and cooktop cutouts, backsplash pieces, and other custom details influence the work involved.
Access to the room, support needs, and project readiness help determine the installation scope.
04 / From slab to space
Every room has its own details. Our approach connects the material you choose with the measurements, fabrication, and installation it needs.
Discuss your room, review material options, and decide which slab and details suit the project.
Review measurements, cutouts, seams, and support needs. Coordinate cabinet and appliance readiness before fabrication.
The stone is cut and finished for the agreed layout, with attention to the edges and openings in the design.
Installation brings the fabricated pieces into your space. Discuss the final details and care recommendations for your stone.
05 / Live with it beautifully
Care depends on the particular slab, finish, and any treatment applied. Follow the guidance supplied for your countertop.
For independent guidance, see the Natural Stone Institute’s stone care recommendations.
Use a soft cloth and a stone-appropriate neutral cleaner. Rinse and dry after cleaning; avoid harsh or abrasive products.
Use trivets beneath hot cookware and cutting boards for food preparation. Blot spills promptly.
Not every granite needs the same treatment or resealing schedule. Ask what is appropriate for your selected stone. Sealing can improve stain resistance; it does not make stone stain-proof.

Granite is a hard natural stone used for kitchen countertops. It can suit busy kitchens when the layout is properly planned and the surface is cared for appropriately. The selected slab, finish, and your preferences should guide the decision.
There is no universal yearly schedule. Some granite benefits from sealing, while other stone may not require it. Follow the recommendations for your actual slab and any sealer used.
Use a trivet or hot pad. Natural stone may tolerate heat, but concentrated heat and sudden temperature changes can cause damage.
It depends on the slab dimensions, room layout, access, and fabrication requirements. A large island or a long run may need seams. Ask to review seam locations during planning.
Scheduling depends on material availability, approved details, and project readiness. Ask for a project-specific schedule after the stone and scope are confirmed.
