01 / Beauty with individuality
Marble brings natural variation and movement to a countertop. Each slab has its own composition of color and veining, making the actual stone an important part of the design conversation.
At Peerless Stone, we help you consider the whole project: the room, the selected slab, the finish, and the fabrication details. We also talk about how you use the space, so your choice feels right beyond the first impression.

The customer perspective
Explore custom marble countertops for Chicagoland kitchens and bathrooms, with slab selection, fabrication, and installation coordinated from our Franklin Park workshop.
“We chose a Carrara-style marble for the vanity in our Hinsdale bathroom, and the movement in the stone is beautiful. Seeing the slab and discussing the layout made it much easier to picture the finished space.”
“Our River Forest renovation called for a natural marble surface with a timeless feel. We loved being able to discuss the edges and how the veining would sit across the vanity before anything was cut.”
“The marble vanity top is our favorite detail in our Glen Ellyn bathroom. The fit around the sink looks precise, and the care guidance helped us understand what to expect from natural marble.”
02 / Start with the stone
Bring photos of your room and a cabinet sample, if available. We’ll discuss how the selected stone could sit within the colors, proportions, and lighting of your space.
A small sample cannot show the full slab. Consider the overall background, movement, and natural variation before making the final selection.
Ask about available finishes and compare actual samples in your room’s lighting. Discuss how the finish may change with use and care.
Review the edge profile, slab thickness, backsplash, and any waterfall panel together. Ask how the pattern will relate across pieces.
Sink openings, appliance specifications, cabinet support, and access influence the layout. Review the proposed details before fabrication.

Island dimensions, long runs, backsplash pieces, and the way you want veining to relate across the design can influence slab requirements.
Edges, sink and cooktop cutouts, support, and site access affect the work. Confirm the full scope, including any removal, plumbing, or preparation arranged separately.
04 / From slab to space
Our approach brings material selection, custom fabrication, and installation together. We’ll discuss the scope and schedule for your particular project.

Installation completes the space. Review care recommendations for your selected marble.
05 / Understand the surface
Marble is sensitive to acids commonly found in kitchens and bathrooms. Its finish can develop marks and patina with use. Decide whether that changing character suits your expectations.
For independent guidance, see the Natural Stone Institute’s marble overview and stone care recommendations.
Etching changes the surface finish after a chemical reaction; staining changes its color through absorbed material. They need different approaches. Ask for advice before attempting a repair.
Use a marble-appropriate neutral cleaner and soft cloth. Blot spills promptly, and use coasters, cutting boards, and trivets. Avoid acidic cleaners and abrasive products.
Sealing may improve resistance to staining. It does not make marble stain-proof. Follow stone-specific guidance for the product and resealing schedule.
A thoughtful decision
Tell us what matters most: the appearance, your daily routine, and how you want the surface to look as it ages.
It can be a choice for homeowners who appreciate its appearance and accept its care needs. Discuss acid sensitivity and surface wear before deciding. If you prefer a different maintenance routine, compare quartz, granite, and porcelain too.
Patina describes the accumulated signs of use that change the surface’s appearance over time. Decide whether you enjoy that evolving character or want a surface that better matches another set of expectations.
No. A sealer can help with stain resistance, but it is not a guarantee against stains or surface damage. Continue to protect the finish and follow the care guidance for your stone.
Compare the actual finish options for your selected marble. Consider how they look in your lighting and discuss the maintenance and appearance you can expect with use.
Natural variation means a small sample cannot represent every part of a slab. Review the actual slab and the proposed layout before fabrication.
